East Belfast: Men attacked at house in Belmont Avenue area

Two men have been injured following an incident at a house in the Belmont Avenue area of east Belfast.

Up to five men entered a house and attacked two occupants at around 1.45pm on Tuesday.

One man was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treament.

Detective Sergeant McCambridge said: “One man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for head injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening. Another man was treated for minor injuries by the NI Ambulance Service.

“Anyone who has any information about this incident should contact detectives at Musgrave police station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 512 of 7/2/17.

“Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

UUP MLA Andy Allen said: "My thoughts are with the man who has been injured and I wish him a speedy recovery.

There are no further details at this stage.
