East Belfast police appeals

A number of incidents are currently being investigated by police in the east Belfast area.

Ballybeen Attack

A 25-year-old delivery man was treated in hospital for a fractured arm, cuts and bruises after he was attack by a masked gang wielding an iron bar and baseball bat.

Police said he was called to the Ardara Avenue area of Ballybeen during the evening of Wednesday, March 10, on the pretext of a delivery.

The gang demanded money from the man, who works for a Comber chip shop, but made off towards Belfast city centre when they realised he was not carrying any cash.


Two men stole a sum of money from the home of an elderly lady in the My Lady’s Way area of east Belfast, shortly before 2pm on Tuesday, March 9.

The pensioner was physically unharmed but badly shaken by her ordeal.

Both intruders were in their forties and had shaved, greying hair.

One wore a dark coloured body warmer and checked shirt while the other was dressed in a dark coloured fleece with a ‘BELFAST’ motif across the front.
