Easter Rising parade passes off peacefully in Belfast [Photos]

By Staff Reporter

A contentious parade in north Belfast passed off peacefully yesterday.

A single drum beat sounded as the Easter Rising Centenary Committee parade moved between St Malachy's College and the junction of Clifton Street and Stanhope Street - in keeping with the Parades Commission ruling. A small crowd had gathered to protest as the procession made its way along the route.

However, amid a heavy police presence, it passed off without incident.
