A youth arts festival is taking place in Londonderry for the first time which will include performances and exhibitions over a 12-day period until July 7.

The celebration will include an eclectic range of activities and events for young people including music gigs, a spoken word/hip-hop festival, film screenings, discussions, fashion master-classes, street art and digital.

The focal point of the Rewire Festival will be The Big Top events tent in Guildhall Square where Derry Mayor Michaela Boyle officially launched the programme. This event will be the flagship event of Youth 19, the council's year-long programme of events and activities focussed and dedicated to young people aged 12 - 24.

The full Rewire Festival programme is available at www.youth19.com.
