Police have named the man killed in Co Londonderry on Friday as Edward Montgomery.

The 63-year-old was from the Articlave area near Coleraine.

He died after a crash around 9.45am on the Quilly Road involving a grey Volkswagen Passat and a white Volkswagen Polo.

Two other people were taken to hospital afterwards, including Mr Montgomery's son, who was travelling with him.

Neither are believed to have life-threatening injuries.

DUP councillor Adrian McQuillan said he had been informed that surface water had gathered in a dip in the road overnight.

Mr Montgomery's funeral will take place in Castlerock Presbyterian Church tomorrow at noon followed by interment in the church's graveyard at Downhill.

The family requested that donations in lieu of flowers be made to Castlerock Presbyterian Church building fund or the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance Service.

A family notice said Mr Montgomery's passing was "deeply regretted".
