Elderly Belfast woman targeted in distraction burglary

Heartless thieves attempted to burgle an elderly woman's home in Belfast while a man posing as a representative from the water board distracted her.

Detectives are investigating following the attempted distraction burglary in the Dover Walk area of the city on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson said: “Shortly after 4:30pm it was reported that a man claiming to be from the water board entered the home of an elderly female whilst it is believed other males accessed the rear garden of the property.

"They were disturbed by a neighbour and were seen to leave in a dark coloured vehicle. If anyone has any information please contact 101 quoting reference 1053 07/06/18."

Police have warned the public to treat with caution unexpected persons who come to your door and to report any activity that raises your suspicions to police immediately.
