Elderly couple held in their living room while men rob their Belfast home

An elderly couple have been left shaken after they were held in their living room while three men robbed their Belfast home.

Detectives are appealing for information following the burglary of a house in the Park Parade area of Belfast on Thursday, October 1.

Shortly before 9.30pm the elderly resident heard a knock at his back door.

As he opened the door, four men dressed in black and wearing gloves pushed passed him into his house.

They made the elderly man and his wife stay in the living room.

One man remained with them whilst the other three men searched the bedrooms.

They made off with a sum of money.

The occupants of the house were not injured, however they were left very badly shaken.

Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin said: “I would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime, Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
