Elderly man suffers facial injuries after being attacked by gang during burglary

A man in his 70s has suffered injuries to hands and face after he was attacked during a burglary in Co Tyrone.

He was assaulted after a gang of men burst into his house in Dunnyboe Road, Donemana at around 8.25pm on Sunday night.

A number of items - including money - were stolen from the house.

The men then made off in a dark coloured Seat car.

Shortly before 9.50pm it was reported that two men were seen acting suspiciously in a blue coloured Seat Toledo car, licence plate CKZ 8880 in a car park in the Victoria Court area of Londonderry, police said.

The car was later found burnt out in the Daisyfield Park off the Letterkenny Road in the city.

Police are investigating a link between the robbery and the burnt out car.
