Elderly woman's north Belfast home ransacked by masked gang 'looking for drugs'

A gang of masked men has ransacked the home of a woman aged in her 70s "searching for drugs" in north Belfast.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a burglary of a house in the Downview Mews area on Wednesday October 28.

It was reported that around 7pm a number of masked men entered a property in the area and informed the elderly female resident aged in her 70s, they were looking for drugs.

The men ransacked a bedroom before making off from the property in the direction of Donegall Park Avenue.

The men are described as being aged in their 20s or 30s, wearing jeans and dark clothing.

After they left it was discovered that a sum of money had been stolen as a result of the incident. The female occupant was not injured.

Detective Constable Forsythe is appealing for anyone who witnessed the burglary or anyone with any information about the incident to contact Detectives in Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
