Emergency lighting at Belfast City Hall as big sports event celebrated
Belfast City Hall got into the spirit of the World Police and Fire Games last night by posing as a fire engine.
The main body of the building was bathed in red light to simulate a fire appliance while the famous 'Dome of Delight' was turned into a giant blue emergency beacon in honour of the thousands of athletes from around the world.
The games have brought a real lift to the city, with the many visitors bringing colour to the streets and welcomed with open arms by citizens.
The event will finish with a spectacular closing ceremony tomorrow, bringing to an end a tournament many have dubbed "the friendliest games".
Theme lighting of the City Hall for special occasions is fast becoming a local tradition.
The first official outing for the new array of coloured lights was during the Gay Pride festival when the building was bathed in a rainbow effect.
