Emergency operation at Belfast airport as liquid leaks from plane

Belfast city airport was at the centre of an emergency operation on Tuesday after liquid was reported leaking from a plane.

Passengers from London had already disembarked before the leak was discovered after parking at its usual slot.

Local fire crews and ambulances were summoned to the airport after the BA flight arrived shortly before 3pm.

They were informed they were not needed however, as soon as they arrived at the East Belfast site.

A spokesman for George Best Belfast City Airport confirmed no one was hurt or affected by the incident: “The plane came into stand and passengers disembarked and one of the technicians saw a small amount of fluid coming from the aircraft.

"As a precautionary measure standard operating procedures were enacted to deal with the situation, which included emergency crews from the fire and ambulance services which were stood down upon arrival."

No details of the nature of the liquid leaking from the plane are available and BA are unavailable for comment.
