Emotional tribute as tragic motorbike racer Wayne Hamilton buried

The funeral of a young rising star of the motorcycle road racing scene has taken place in Co Armagh.

Wayne Hamilton (20) was buried yesterday at St Anthony's church in Craigavon.

Hundreds of mourners, many dressed in his orange riding colours, paid their respects to the young biker who was killed during a race last week.

He died following a crash at the Manx Grand Prix on the Isle of Man only 48 hours after winning the newcomers' race.

Fellow racer Ryan Farquhar was among those from the racing community who attended the service.

The tragic rider's leathers were placed on top of his coffin - his grieving parents walking behind with his mother, Sonya, carrying his crash helmet. A guard of honour and motorcycle escort accompanied the cortege, with all fellow bikers encouraged to show their support for the racer.

Following Requiem Mass, he was laid to rest at St John's Cemetery in nearby Lylo.
