Enjoy a youth musical scheme with a difference

By Staff Reporter

The Youth Theatre is hosting a Summer Skills residential course at Victoria College in Belfast, from July 28 to August 2, for aspiring performers aged 11-21.

Courses are delivered by professionals working in the theatre industry.

Jon said: "YMT's Summer Skills Courses are for young people who are keen to hone their skills in singing, dancing and acting, whilst having a brilliantly fun week away with like-minded people.

"Participants in Belfast will have the unique opportunity to work with director Alison Goldie on a brand new musical – Truly Weird, A Grimm Tale.

"The grand plan is that by lunchtime on the final Saturday a brand new piece of original music theatre has been created – by them.

"At 2pm on the last day family, friends and industry professionals are invited along to watch the presentation, which normally lasts about half an hour.

"The audience is always amazed at how much can be achieved in six days.

"That's because the young people work very hard.

"They'll learn new skills and make new friends.

"And they'll boost their confidence – doing things they thought they could never do, in a non-scary environment.

"Everyone's in the same boat."
