The founder of Northern Ireland's leading organisation for the promotion of ethnic arts, culture and heritage has been shortlisted for the prestigious UK Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
Nisha Tandon, founder and Executive Director of ArtsEkta, has been shortlisted in the Arts & Culture category. The awards were launched 15 years ago to celebrate the contribution Asian women have made in fields such as business, entrepreneurship and humanitarian work.
Nisha said she was "surprised but delighted", adding: "Making the shortlist is acknowledgement of the valuable work that ArtsEkta does within Northern Ireland's arts, culture and heritage sectors and will be a valuable credential for the future."
ArtsEkta chairman Dr Satish said: "This is a fantastic and well deserved honour for Nisha and the culmination of two decades devoted to creating and nurturing quality ethnic arts engagement across our increasingly diverse communities.
"Given the stature and international reputation of ArtsEkta today, it is perhaps surprising to recall that Nisha launched it as a voluntary initiative run from her home."
