Ex-officer denies sex attack on girlfriend

A sex abuse trial of a retired policeman has been shown a video of his naked lover collapsing in apparent distress in the corridor of a Co Antrim hotel after their so-called “sexual experiment ... had effectively been a disaster”.

Antrim Crown Court heard that the past girlfriend of the 53-year-old former policeman was found by other guests after she had set off the hotel alarm in the early hours of January 16 last year.

The east Belfast man, who cannot be named, denies two charges of sexually abusing and one of assaulting the woman.

In the pixillated CCTV video played to the jury, the mother-of-two is seen taking a bathrobe from a laundry basket in a side corridor.

Later a female guest woken by the alarm found the “screaming, distraught” woman, who claimed “he beat the f*** out of me”.

Under cross-examination, she explained to defence QC Eugene Grant she was “puzzled” by a remark the woman made about the door to her room being locked, because if she had been in the same situation, she would never have gone near the room again.

At hearing.
