'Explosive device' thrown at police

A suspected explosive device has been thrown at police in Belfast.

The object was hurled at officers in the Oldpark Road area in the north of the city but failed to detonate.

Army bomb disposal experts were called in to examine the scene.

A number of streets remained sealed off while the technical officers continued to make the area safe.

The incident was later declared a hoax.

The device involved has been removed from the scene for further examination.
