Six members of the same family had to run for cover into a security hut at a magistrate's court last year during a dispute between two rival families, a judge has heard.
Deputy District Judge Una Mullan was told that the incident in Londonderry happened last September 19 when members of the Stokes and Mongan families clashed in a crowded foyer immediately outside the court room.
Before the court was Winifred Stokes, a 37-year-old mother-of-six from Sheriff's Glen in the city. She admitted being verbally abusive and aggressive towards members of the Mongan family who were in the building to attend the trial of one of their family members. Stokes, who had 28 previous criminal convictions, was bound over to keep the peace for two years on her own bail of £500.
