The family targeted in a pipe bomb attack believe the device left at their home was meant for someone else.
The father and mother of the three young children who all lived in the house at Castle Park in Tobermore, Co Londonderry, said they have no idea why someone left the bomb outside their home early yesterday morning.
The device exploded shortly before 1am damaging windows at the rear of the property.
The family are understood to be staying with relatives and are at a complete loss as to why they were singled out and are convinced it was a case of mistaken identity.
A police spokesman said they are keeping an open mind on a possible motive.
Local councillor Anne Ford, who spoke to the family, slammed those behind the attack.
Chief Inspector Sam Donaldson said: "I totally condemn this reckless attack."
