The Foreign Office has offered assistance to the family of a north Belfast man who died after falling from a 15th floor balcony in Spain.

Colin McGarry (48) had been on holiday with friends when he fell on Sunday morning from the balcony of a hotel in Benidorm.

A Foreign Office spokesperson said yesterday they are also in contact with the local authorities.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust is also helping Mr McGarry's loved ones.

North Belfast SDLP councillor Paul McCusker offered his deepest sympathies to Mr McGarry's family on social media.

A post-mortem investigation is to be carried out in Spain.
