Farmer (71) killed after being attacked by cattle in Co Fermanagh

A 71-year-old man has been killed after he was attacked by cattle on a farm in Co Fermanagh.

The victim was killed at his farm at Knockmanoul, close to Ballinamallard on Saturday.

He has been named as Robert Brown.

Ulster Unionist MLA Tom Elliott - who knew Mr Brown - said the local community was in shock.

"I knew him very well. He was a farmer in the local community. A very pleasant man, and everyone in the area knew him," he said.

"It's a mixture of shock and sadness. People would never have expected something like this to have happened."

The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it is now investigating the death.

"HSENI is investigating the death of a farmer in County Fermanagh. Our thoughts are with his family at this most difficult time," a spokesman said.
