A County Tyrone farmer has been convicted of transporting an animal that was not fit for the journey.
Ryan McElduff (21), of Creggan Road, Cranagh, Carrickmore, pleaded guilty at Omagh Magistrates Court yesterday and received a conditional discharge for 18 months. This case arose, when the Official Veterinarian at an abattoir examined a cow presented by Mr McElduff. The animal was bearing very little weight on its left hind leg and appeared in distress. A pathologist concluded that there was an unstable fracture of the femur.
One of the two men who appeared in court last month along with a woman, on charges relating to drugs and money laundering offences running into hundreds of thousands of pounds, is now under a death threat from a dissident republican organisation, Londonderry Magistrates Court has heard.
