Female employee left shaken after scaring off would-be robbers from north Belfast shop

A female employee was left shaken after she fended off would-be robbers at a shop in north Belfast.

The attempted robbery happened at around 7.30pm on Thursday June 15.

It was reported that two men had approached a shop on Skegoniel Avenue.

One male entered the premises demanding money while the other kept watch outside.

A female employee managed to scare them off by calling out for help.

Both men then fled empty handed in the direction of Northwood.

Detective Constable Ritchie said: "The employee was left shaken by the experience.

"We are appealing for anyone with information about this crime or who may have witnessed the incident, to contact detectives at Musgrave Street Station on 101 quoting incident reference 1131 of 15 June 2017.

"If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
