Fermanagh mum and son switch fraud plea to guilty

A Co Fermanagh mother and son have pleaded guilty to dishonesty offences involving fraudulent invoicing and converting criminal property.

Joan Maye (60), of Liscreevin Road in Lisnarick, and her son, Wayne Kevin Maye (39), of Lettermoney Road in Ballinamallard, admitted their joint roles at Dungannon Crown Court.

They had originally denied the charges, but changed their pleas ahead of a trial.

Mrs Maye admitted seven counts of converting criminal property between March 5 and May 11, 2011. This involved handling of the proceeds of cheques from Mulholland Scrap Metals Ltd to a total of £19,926.72.

Mr Maye admitted three counts of fraud by false representation between March 28 and June 23, 2011. This involved the presentation of multiple fraudulent invoices in the name of BJT Commercials.

The pair were remanded on continuing bail until sentencing next month.
