Fight outside Belfast fast food restaurant leaves man critically ill in hospital

A man is critically ill in hospital following a fight outside a fast food restaurant in Belfast city centre.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the altercation, which happened in Donegall Place in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detective Sergeant Dolores Black said: "The injured man, aged in his 50s, suffered serious head injuries following an altercation with a man at the doorway of the fast food outlet.

"He remains in hospital at this time, in a critical condition.

"A man in his 20s was arrested in connection to the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries."

The incident took place at the doors of the restaurant at around 12.30am on Sunday.
