Filthy McNastys' garden only NI winner at pub awards

By Claire Williamson

A Belfast bar's unique outdoor area has proved to be a hit with the judges at an annual all-Ireland awards ceremony in Dublin.

Among the winners at the Sky Bar of the Year Awards was Filthy McNastys on Belfast's Dublin Road - the only winner from Northern Ireland.

It took home the gong for 'Best Outdoor Space' at the black-tie ceremony at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin on Monday.

The bar has an outside area called The Secret Garden (above) along with a roof terrace.

Assistant manager James Rafferty said: "We are delighted to have received this award and to have been placed in the same category as many other great bars across Ireland.

"It is very rewarding to know that our outside live venue is still being recognised as one of the best across the island. The award gives us great confidence going forward with our upcoming refurbishment of the venue.

"We would like to thank Sky Bar of the Year Awards for the opportunity and, of course, our loyal customers."

Best Overall Bar was picked up by Left Bank in Kilkenny which was once a Bank of Ireland branch.
