Fire bomb attack on police station

A police station has been targeted in an overnight petrol bomb attack in Northern Ireland.

Officers from the Warrenpoint station in Co Down who were out on patrol in the early hours of the morning discovered the device when they returned around 3.30am.

The petrol bomb was thrown over the perimeter wall into the station yard but failed to ignite.

Inspector Colin Patterson said some minor damage had been caused to a vehicle parked in the yard.

"We will be viewing footage from the station security cameras, but I would also like to appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the police station or who has any information to contact officers in Warrenpoint on 101," he added.
