A fire has gutted a car and caused damage to the rear of a hotel in the Botanic area of Belfast.

Police have appealed for information after three linked incidents in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Around 3am a passing police patrol discovered a red Nissan Pulsar car on fire at College Green.

A second fire was also noted by the officers a short distance away at the rear of a hotel at College Green Mews.

The car was gutted as a result of the fire and damage caused to bins and storage areas at the hotel.

A call was then received at around 3.25am stating that two windows of a parked Ford Focus car had been smashed at Posnett Street.

Police are investigating a link to all three incidents and have appealed to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police at Lisburn Road on 101 quoting reference number 126 11/06/19.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
