Firefighters tackle blaze at historic Belfast mill
FIREFIGHTERS managed to prevent a major blaze engulfing an historic derelict building in north Belfast yesterday evening.
The fire on the top floor of the old Ewart's Mill on the Crumlin Road was reported to emergency services at 5.15pm, with the flames fully extinguished by around 7pm.
Robert Blair, Station Commander for the north and west district, said at least five appliances including a command support unit and aerial appliance were called to the scene.
After fire officers wearing breathing equipment entered the property, it was established the damage was contained to part of the top floor.
He added that no one was inside the property at the time and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the PSNI.
