Firefighters tackle 'ferocious' warehouse blaze
Almost 40 firefighters were involved with battling a "significant" fire at an industrial estate in Newry.
The blaze at a large unit was discovered early yesterday morning and took several hours to bring under control.
Seven appliances and 38 firefighters attended the scene at Carnbane Industrial Estate in the city.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said it used a high volume of water and specialist equipment.
The cause of the fire was under investigation last night.
SDLP MLA Justin McNulty attended the scene yesterday morning and described the flames as "ferocious".
He paid tribute to the bravery of the firefighters who brought the blaze under control.
"My thoughts are also with the property and business owners. Forest Wood, the business owner have been in business for over forty years, a company specialising in timber imports," he said.
"I hope they'll be back operational at this facility in the very near future."
