Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze at a derelict property in Co Londonderry.

The alarm was raised around 9.20pm the fire had started at a property in the Queen’s Park area in Coleraine.

Paul Harper from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the operation was still ongoing by 10.30pm.

“We don’t see it as an extremely large incident. It’s a derelict, or at least certainly unoccupied premises,” he said.

“We have three fire appliances from Coleraine and Portstewart as well as a high reach aerial appliance from the northland station in Derry.”

He added that no evacuations of nearby residents was considered necessary.

On March 24, an Indian restaurant in Coleraine was destroyed after a major fire took hold in a retail park.
