Ulster Unionist Policing Board member and North Down MLA Leslie Cree has reiterated Justice Minister David Ford’s reminder that those who want to buy or use fireworks require a fireworks licence.
“Halloween is fast approaching and many people will be arranging firework displays whether in their backyards or at organized public displays,” he said.
“If you plan to use fireworks you will need a licence which can be obtained from the Department of Justice otherwise you will be breaking the law.
“Retailers selling fireworks must be registered and display at the point of sale their current licence or Certificate of Registration.
“Please therefore make sure that you purchase any fireworks from a registered supplier. By not doing so you will be putting your safety and the safety of others at risk.
“I want to encourage everyone to have a safe and happy Halloween.”
