Police have confirmed that five arrests have been made after shots were fired at a house in Newry on Monday.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired at the house in the Altmore Gardens area of Newry around 9.20pm.

No injuries were reported.

Police have arrested 4 males and a female during follow up enquiries and seized two cars.

Local Sinn Fein councillor Liz Kimmins said: “This was a extremely reckless act. There is a genuine anger within the local community about this criminal act.

"There is no place for guns on our streets. Anyone with information should contact the PSNI".

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone with information to "please call 101 quoting reference 1408 26/03/18".
