Five men arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference and burglary

Three men have been arrested in west Belfast on suspicion of tampering with cars as another two men were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Following reports from members of the public about men acting suspiciously in the Finaghy Road North area, three males were arrested on suspicion of vehicle interference.

An hour later in the Riverdale area of Andersonstown, following reports of a burglary in progress at a house, the area was secured, searched and two males arrested in a nearby shed.

Stolen property and a number of items which could have been used to break into houses were recovered.

Inspector Alan Swan explained: “These are just two examples of the great pro-active work that goes on during night shift, while the vast majority of people are asleep. Police are on duty around the clock patrolling across Belfast to keep people safe and make a real difference to residents’ lives.

“Our appeal to the local community is that if you see anyone acting suspiciously in your local area to contact your local police on 101 or in an emergency on 999.”
