Five people arrested after large quantity of cannabis found in Belfast

Five people have been arrested after drugs estimated to be worth more than £36,000 were seized in south Belfast.

Officers entered a house on Rutland Street at around 8.50am on Saturday morning and found a large quantity of herbal cannabis and suspected class A drugs. The drugs were taken away for further examination.

One man aged 20, two men aged 18 and two women aged 21 and 18 were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A,B and C drugs and possession of class A, B & C drugs with intent to supply.

The three men were released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The 21-year-old woman was released unconditionally and received a Community Resolution Notice (CRN) and the 18-year-old female was released unconditionally. 

Inspector Pollock said: “Police would appeal to anyone who have any concerns or information regarding drugs in the area to contact them on 101. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
