Flybe’s new routes praised

Alliance MLA Chris Lyttle has welcomed the announcement that Flybe is to take on three new routes from Belfast City Airport when Ryanair pulls out at the end of October.

“This quick response from Flybe to a gap in provision is demonstrative of the carrier's ongoing commitment to Northern Ireland,” said Mr Lyttle. “It is great news for the local economy and local jobs that airlines see Belfast City Airport as a good place to do business.

Manx Air has also announced it is to switch its main base in Northern Ireland to George Best Belfast City Airport and launch a new twice daily service from Belfast to Cork.

The move, effective from October 31, will create many new jobs, particularly in the hospitality commercial and tourism sectors.
