Food, wine and good company is so perfect

By Pamela Ballantine

I love food. I love wine. I love good company. Put all three together and I am a happy bunny. Add in an award-winning Hollywood actor and I'm in seventh heaven, which is what happened in the Ivory Restaurant when I was a guest of Robb Brothers Wine Merchants.

I was lucky enough to be seated beside guest of honour Sam Neill, who was showcasing his award winning Two Paddocks wines. He regaled the diners with stories of matinee idols and reminisced about his time growing up in Northern Ireland.

We all like surprises, so it was a lovely treat when I was dandering through House of Fraser to be greeted by Peter Gilroy who was helping staff at the new Michael Kors counter meet and treat the customers. Free manicures were on offer and everyone walked away with a fabulous goodie bag.

That same evening I was doubly delighted to be at the opening of Stix and Stones in Upper Queen Street. Not only were we treated to delicious food, cocktails and a cookery demonstration by chef brothers Daniel and Martin Courtney, but one of my musical heroes was there too. Many of us know the music of Irish rock legends Horslips and band member Barry Devlin was at the opening. How excited am I to have tickets for their forthcoming gig at Dunluce Castle on June 21.
