Former New Zealand PM Helen Clark visits Northern Ireland

Former New Zealand prime minister Helen Clark has paid a private visit to Northern Ireland to walk in the footsteps of one of her predecessors.

Ms Clark, who held the post from 1999-2008, was welcomed to Glenavy in Co Antrim on Saturday to visit Ballance House where John Ballance, who was New Zealand prime minister from 1891-1893, was born.

The visitor, who has been Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, the third-highest UN position, since 2009, viewed a wide range of artefacts and exhibitions on display.
