Four arrested after serious assault are freed on bail

Four people arrested after a fight in north Belfast left a man with a serious head injury have been released.

The PSNI had detained three men aged 22, 29 and 50, and a woman aged 24 after the assault at Shore Crescent in the early hours of Saturday.

A police spokesman said the four have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police had received a report of a fight at around 12.30am. When officers arrived at the scene, a man was found unconscious in the street. Another was located nearby with a number of injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, police in Portadown are appealing for information following an assault on the Armagh Road on Sunday, June 5, between midnight and 1am.

It took place on the bridge and was carried out by two males aged around 25-30 years old.

Both were described as around 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build and with short dark hair. Both were said to be wearing jeans and spoke with local accents. One is said to have been wearing a navy T-shirt.
