Four held over kidnap and robbery
Detectives in Newry have arrested four men in connection with their investigations into an abduction and robbery.
The arrests were made after searches in the Newry and Warrenpoint areas on Tuesday were carried out as part of an investigation into an abduction and robbery in Warrenpoint in March, as well as a number of other violent robberies in the south Down area.
Jewellery was recovered during the searches in addition to other items.
Three men – aged 38, 35 and 49 – were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, possession of a firearm and robbery.
A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including threats to kill, aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, possession of a firearm and robbery. All four were released on bail pending further enquiries.
