Four injured after being tied up and assaulted by masked gang in Carryduff burglary

Four people have been injured after they were tied up by a gang of masked men during a burglary in Carryduff.

It happened on Wednesday night at a house on the Ballynahinch Road.

At around 7pm five masked men, one thought to have had a gun and one with a baton, forced their way in to the house.

They assaulted a man and woman aged in their 20s, who were in the house at the time before tying them up.

Another man also aged in his 20s and an 18-year-old woman who called at the property during the incident were also assaulted and tied up by the intruders.

The gang demanded money from the occupants before making off with a sum of cash.

The two men and two women sustained a number of injuries as a result.

The Ambulance Service was called out just after 9pm and treated the four patients at the scene. None of them were taken to hospital.

Detective Inspector Cummings is appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives at Lisburn Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 1304 of 20/07/16.

If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
