Four men have been arrested as part of the major operation into the activities of the Belfast INLA currently ongoing in the greater Belfast area.

Three men have been arrested under the terrorism act and one on suspicion of human trafficking and controlling prostitution.

Over 200 police officers are currently involved in the operation.

Police have carried out twelve property searches in north, south and west Belfast, Lisburn, Crumlin and Newtownabbey. Some searches are currently ongoing.

The police are being supported by their colleagues from the National Crime Agency and HMRC.

It represents the latest action by the Paramilitary Crime Task Force.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland, HM Revenue & Customs and the National Crime Agency have established the Paramilitary Crime Task Force to tackle criminality linked to paramilitarism as part of the Executive’s action plan on tackling paramilitary activity, criminality, and organised crime.
