Four men arrested over investigation into kidnapping and violent robberies in Co Down

Four men have been arrested by police investigation a kidnapping and violent robberies in Co Down.

They were held on a number of different charges after searches in the Newry and Warrenpoint areas on Tuesday.

The searches were part of a probe into an abduction and robbery in Warrenpoint in March this year.

They were also related to a number of other violent robberies in the south Down area.

Jewellery was recovered during the searches.

Those arrested include three men - aged 35, 38 and 49 - held on suspicion of aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, possession of a firearm and robbery.

Another man, aged 49, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, threats to kill, aggravated burglary, false imprisonment, kidnapping, possession of a firearm and robbery.
