Four men held over creeper burglaries

By Claire Williamson

Police have arrested four men following a chase of suspected burglars and car thieves.

Shortly before 3.45am yesterday a black Seat Leon car was stolen in a creeper-style burglary in the Summerhill Court area of north Belfast.

Around 45 minutes later police received a report of an attempted burglary in Newtownabbey. It involved a number of men who drove off in a black Seat Leon.

Police then received another report of a burglary in the Mount Pleasant area of Jordanstown and a resident of Hawthorne Grove in Carrickfergus reported disturbing four males in a black Seat Leon at his home.

The Seat Leon was later observed by police on the Antrim Road in Glengormley.

Police followed the car and it was stopped on the Carmavy Road close to Belfast International Airport.

Two men aged 22 and 25 were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, while two other males fled from the car.

A short time later police arrested two other men.
