Four police officers in hospital after their Land Rover crashes on Westlink

Two lanes shut as police vehicle overturns on busy Belfast carriageway

Four police officers were taken to hospital on Tuesday evening after their Land Rover overturned on Belfast's Westlink.

A spokeswoman described the crash, which closed the busy carriageway from Broadway to Divis Street, as a "one-vehicle collision".

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they had taken the officers - one female and three male - to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

It added they were in stable conditions. Police said their conditions were not life-threatening.

The accident happened just after rush hour on Tuesday evening.

Belfast-bound traffic was diverted of the M1 onto Broadway Junction until the road was cleared.
