Fourth brother pleads not guilty over double murder

A man has pleaded not guilty to a double murder which his three brothers are also charged over.

Christopher Smith (33) denied murdering Thomas O'Hare and Lisa McClatchey in November 2006.

Smith, with an address at Whitehall Square in Dublin, also pleaded not guilty to a charge of arson with intent to endanger life at a house on the Foley Road, Tassagh near Keady on November 6, 2006.

Mr O'Hare and Ms McClatchey died in hospital from their injuries following the attack at their home on the Foley Road and today Christopher Smith's defence lawyer did not object to him being joined to three of his brothers on an indictment with identical charges.

Niall Smith (37) and Stephen Smith (29) of Mourneview, Mowhan, Co Armagh and Martin Smith (40) with an address at Kevlin Glen, Omagh have all pleaded not guilty to the double murders and arson attack.

All four brothers are in custody and their trial is listed to be heard on November 4.
