Weather forecasters have issued a weather warning for freezing fog for parts of Northern Ireland.

The yellow warning is in place from 5pm on Sunday until 10am on Monday affecting mainly counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Londonderry and Tyrone.

Slower journey times with delays to bus and train services possible can be expected as well as delays or cancellations to flights.

The Met Office said: "Fog patches will become more widespread overnight and dense in places. Not everywhere will see fog, but where it does form, visibility may fall to around 50 metres at times. Fog will be slow to clear on Monday, perhaps persisting in a few spots."

For the rest of Christmas eve forecasters are predicting sunny spells and a maiximum of 6 degress. Although the fog could linger. Low cloud and mist could be extensive on Christmas day with extensive hill fog. Still mostly cloudy with patchy rain on Boxing Day. Mainly dry on Thursday.
