A festive frozen ice kingdom was a hit with young Disney fans during a Christmas lights switch-on on Saturday.

The Frozen family fun day drew large crowds of children to the Ballyhackamore suburb of east Belfast - all waiting to see popular characters Elsa, Anna and snowman Olaf turn on the tree lights before a lantern parade and fireworks.

Many of the traders joined in the Frozen theme in decorative window displays. Also helping to add to the Christmas cheer were musical performances by Strandtown, Greenwood and St Joseph's primary schools.

The event was organised by Ballyhackamore Business Association and Belfast City Council.
