Fugitive ETA killer has his legal aid restricted
Legal aid for a convicted Basque killer believed to have fled Northern Ireland is to be restricted as judges decide whether his appeal against extradition to Spain should continue.
Lord Chief Justice Sir Declan Morgan yesterday pencilled in a one-hour hearing to decide the merits of Jose Ignacio de Juana Chaos' case.
Nothing has been heard from the 55-year-old Basque separatist since a court in Belfast ruled last year that he should be returned to Spain.
De Juana was jailed for his part in an ETA campaign of 25 murders.
The Spanish authorities had been granted an order for De Juana's extradition last March to face a new charge of glorifying terrorism.
