A fundraising page has been set up to help pay for the funeral costs of three-year-old Kai Corkum who died after being injured in a collision on Thursday.

Kai was taking to hospital following the incident on the Movilla Road in Newtownards around 5.20pm, but died from his injuries on Friday.

He attended the Chuckles nursery of Castle Gardens Primary School.

A godfundme page, set up by an anonymous party has raised over £2000 in a single day.

"I am asking to raise some money for the Corkum family to help towards funeral costs and anything else they may need during this sad time," the page reads.

"Little Kai sadly lost his life due to a road accident. Kai was a loving, beautiful and smart little boy and never took the smile off his face.

"I have set this page up to try help the family with costs. It will also give them one less thing to worry about so they can grieve for their son in peace."

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident on the Movilla Road to come forward.

A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, but has since been released on bail pending further police inquiries.

Kai's grandfather Kenneth Corkum posted on social media that he was “heartbroken” at the loss of Kai.
