Funeral for Northern Ireland boy Henry McStravick who died in fall from balcony in Spain

By Staff Reporter

A teenager has been laid to rest just weeks after the death of his father.

Henry McStravick (14), from Crumlin, Co Antrim, died on holiday in Spain on Wednesday, July 19 after falling from a balcony.

Hundreds of mourners packed the Mater Dei church on Glenavy Road on Saturday, with standing room only at the back and people spilling out onto the steps at the entrance.

Children and teenagers wept as the youngster's remains were carried into the church. His little sister Maisie gave a reading from the Bible and mourners wiped away tears as her tiny voice filled the church.

The boy died after falling 20ft from a balcony at Eix Lagotel in the beach resort of Playa de Muro, Majorca.

He had reportedly overbalanced on the second floor balcony shortly before midnight.

Despite being rushed to the Son Espases Hospital in Majorca, and being treated in intensive care, the youngster died of his injuries.

His death is the second tragedy to hit the family in a matter of weeks after Henry's father, talented tattoo artist Stephen Turley, died suddenly last month.
